    The Groove MVP Fans Club

In July 2007, I started at WPC 2008 to bring people together and create the "Groove Fans Club".

In order to prepare the MVP Summit 2008, I created the "MVP Groove Fans Club" in a Groove dedicated space.

We still need a Tee-Shirt but Elisabeth promised us one ! Otherwise, we will make a copy of Ashok's ;-)

The idea behind is to bring various skills together, express positively differences of cultures and ways of building together strong influence in order to provide customer consolidated feedback to Microsoft senior management and accelerate business.

We are those to believe that Groove is a faboulous secure social infrastructure and development platform complementary to SharePoint. SharePoint is indeed extremely strong in a long term centralized world whereas Groove is extremely agile into a distributed cross-firewall environnement allowing new races of relationships and applications. As the Groove Networks Inc acquisition was among Microsoft's top 5 biggest [Steve Balmer at the MVP Summit 2008], it is time to let know to the world the high added value of Groove in a SharePoint world !

Bringing together people also allows me to bring together my book around "Groove" with a wide angle !

    Groove MVP

Yesterday, I was informed being nominated as Groove MVP. You can find my official profile here

This is a undoubtfully non only a significant personnal recognition sign, but also an important market signal that Groove makes a business sense, like this type of article on Info World points to.

I started in 2001 with the technical aspect of the Groove infrastructure and now I am concentrated on the business pains that a Groove based infrastructure can solve (Always On Security, Distributed Security, Usages, New ways of working, New business models...).
Of course, Groove changed technically somehow, Groove will continue to evolve and become better integrated as a new type of Glue into Office Applications, SharePoint/MOSS ... but it long term strenghts won't change in the coming years.

Groove is web services, XML, Digital Indendities, cross-company and always on security driven !
Groove allows to move from personal to team collaboration easily and securely.
Groove also allows continuing to work despite internet connectivity is down.
Groove allows a new race of applications to be promoted like those of InfoPattern or GrooveIT!

Based on your feedbacks, based on the increasing customer list that I am allowed to mention, my Groove Book project continues.

As Groove MVP, I intend to publish some more on this specialized blog.

    Sincerely Yours
    Jean-Michel Davault
